Purpose of Research and Development

  • To enhance treatment efficiency and cancer detection using radiation by studying the effect of radiation on the biological characteristics of cancer

    • Development of biomaterials or compounds to increase radiation sensitivity of cancer cells

  • Procurement of original technology for treatment control and radiation diagnosis such as Biopolymer, synthetic organic substance, and natural substance

  • Research Results
    In the search result of radiation response micro RNA that changes manifestation by radiation in the brain tumor cell strain of U-251, increase of manifestation due to radiation was confirmed in 4 kinds of miRNA; the function was verified by each kind of cancer cell response to radiation. Among them, two kinds of miRNA have a function to induce cancer cell kills, and the other 2 kinds of miRNA were verified after showing increase of permeation of cancer cells. There are research studies being conducted to explore their effect mechanism.
